FASHION BUYING

- Raportti+esitelmä: Students are required to visit Pure trade fair. This assesment is designed to mimic the role of a junior buyer who is tasked with researching the wholesale market for new brands. You are to submit a report highlighting 5 new womenswear brands that you would recommend that the buyer for House of Fraser looks at.
- Essee: Compare and contrast the roles, responsibilities and issues faced by UK based retail buyers when purchasing branded versus own-branded fashion goods.
Tosi mielenkiintoinen kurssi, sillä itseäni kiinnostaisi tehdä tulevaisuudessa juuri sisäänostohommia.
ADVERTISING
"Module aims: to develop a critical understanding of the concepts, models and theories currently used in the practice of advertising within the framework of marketing communications and to be able to apply this understanding and critically assess and develop advertising strategies and campaigns."
- Ryhmätyö+esitelmä: Develop an advertising strategy and campaign for a given brand and prepare a professional pitch to elaborate on your plan. Mun ryhmäni sai tehtäväkseen suunnitella Zaralle "first ever offline advertising campaign", joten muotia tulee sivuttua sattumalta tälläkin kurssilla!

INTERNATIONAL MARKETING
"Promoting an awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding the management of marketing within an international context. Assisting students in developing a global perspective on the commercial marketplace and the environmental factors which impact upon it. Developing the range of analytical and evaluative skills required to support marketing decision-making internationally."
No joo, periaatteessa ihan mielenkiintoinen kurssi mutta ymmärrettävästi ei sivua muotia sitten ollenkaan. Lisäksi tuo ryhmätyö on tosi tylsä, pitäisi keksiä uusia markkinoita pesukoneyritykselle. Hiphei.
- Ryhmätyö+esitelmä: Identify, analyse and evaluate 3 international markets of your choice for a given product and justify your recommendations by using appropriate marketing theory. This assignment requires you to carry out extensive secondary research to analyse the necessary environments and rank them.

THE FASHION SYSTEM
"This module explores fashion product development and its relationship to fashion marketing. In doing so, it builds upon the Fashion Industry module, by introducing students to micro level fashion industry issues in order to enable them to understand the fashion system and its processes at operational levels. In addition, the module deconstructs the fashion system to its micro components and presents how these components are interrelated and how the system may vary in different national models."
- Raportti: Choose a brand that is showing at LFW and do a microenvironmental analysis on it.
- Ryhmätyö: Building on the lectures concerning fashion design and fashion capitals, you are expected to create a visual portfolio presenting the design identity of each fashion capital as seen in the fashion market for S/S 2011. In doing this, you will need to search and clearly explore the various aspects of the cultural, economical, style, design and historical provenance of the fashion capitals (London, Paris, Milan and New York).
Eli samaa portfoliohommaa kuin syksyllä, tosin vielä vaativampana: jokaista kaupunki kohden tulee tehdä n. 11 A3-kokoista sivua, sisältäen sekä kuvia että tekstiä. Toivottavasti saataisiin pian takaisin ne syyslukukaudella tehdyt portfoliot, jotta voisin vähän esitellä omaani!
Jos en muuten ole tämän semesterin jälkeen ihan tykki pitämään esitelmiä englanninkielellä, niin en sitten milloinkaan! :)
